In a thrilling tale of crime and detection, three men have been hauled before the courts for allegedly breaking into the Mozambique Pavilion at the 65th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo. The accused, Denford Tsama (26),Shelton Mudzukwa (29), and Joseph Moyo (42), are facing theft charges that will keep them on the edge of their seats until May 30.
According to prosecutor Ms. Portia Mashashu, the trio’s first alleged break-in occurred between April 28 and April 29, when they supposedly used an iron bar to force their way into the exhibition stand. Their loot? A sleek 53-inch Samsung television valued at a cool US$554. It seems they made their getaway without leaving a trail, but their victory was short-lived.
In a daring second attempt on May 3, Tsama and Mudzukwa allegedly returned to the pavilion, this time making off with a wooden coffee table and a carpet worth approximately US$400. However, their plans were foiled when security personnel intercepted their Honda Fit vehicle (registration number AFP 4482) at the ZITF entry and exit points, recovering the stolen goods.
The accused were remanded in custody, and their fate now rests in the hands of the court. Will they convince the judge of their innocence, or will they face the consequences of their alleged actions? The drama unfolds on May 30.
