Villagers in Mphoengs, Mangwe District were left shell shocked after a woman was brutally murdered before having exchanged polite greetings with the murderer.
It is reported that the now deceased Lethokuhle Sibanda of Bambanani Village in Mphoengs met Mqondisi Ncube (21) at Nick Sibanda’s homestead and after politely exchanging greetings, the latter struck Sibanda with a knobkerrie.
Ncube went on to stab the now deceased with a knife twice on the chest and abdomen leading to her death.
Villagers were left shocked as there were no signs of misunderstanding between the two.
The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene and eventually apprehended the accused who had fled after committing the henous crime.
Mqondisi appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Joshua Nembaware facing murder charges on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to 27 September 2023.
Mr Voster Makuwere appeared for the state.
