The Ministry of Health and Child Welfare has released a disease surveillance report for end of March. The report stated that diarrhoea cases has increased to 5126 with a total of 3 d3aths which were recorded at Harare Hospital (Sally Mugabe Central Hospital).
Diarrhoea outbreak hit Zimbabwe sometime last month , Bulawayo being the first hotspot.
According to the post seen by newsreportzim.com on Ministry of Health twitter handle , 1976 cases were of children below the age of five. To date ,about 31 people have succumbed to the disease since the outbreak.
On its X handle ,MoHCC twitted the following ;
Disease Surveillance Report for the week ending 31 March 2024. 5 126 common diarrhoea cases and 3 d3aths were reported this week. The d3aths were reported from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital (3) in Harare Province.
The survey carried out also revealed that Mashonaland Central Province and Mashonaland East Province had the highest cases on the graph with 811 and 737 cases respectively.
In most cities residents going for days without tap water and this leaves them vulnerable to the disease.
Residents in the city only get water once a week, if lucky, while the sewer system is dilapidated.
Regardless of the situation , people are advised to exercise extreme caution and adhere to strict hygiene standards.
