Nine teenage boys from a renowned vigilante group called the “No Mercy Family” have been brought to court on charges of m_rder after it was reported that a Chinhoyi man was k!lled last Saturday beside a riverbank.
This Tuesday, accused individuals (names withheld), who are between the ages of 15 and 18, came before Magistrate Nyasha Marufu at the Chinhoyi Court Complex. They are accused of murder, as defined by section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act chapter 9:23.
Prosecutor Faith Chikuvadze, the State’s lead prosecutor, alleges that on July 20, 2024, at approximately 1600 hours, an all-boys gang—some of whom were armed with sjamboks—moved to the Hunyani River, which is close to the Rusununguko area.
The accused observed the now-deceased Passmore Moyo (21), who was doing laundry with several pals near the river.

The accused began att@cking Moyo and his associates with open hands and a variety of weapons, including bricks and sjamboks, after a disagreement between the two groups, the court was informed.
Additionally, it was claimed that during the altercation, one or more of the defendants behaved in concert and struck Moyo in the face and forehead with two bricks, causing him to lose consciousness.
Moyo was left laying on the ground as the accused left the scene after realising they had hurt the now-deceased. After being taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, he was admitted but subsequently passed away.
