Mzansi is expressing shock as a wife runs over her husband and kills him after he blocked her from driving.
Thirty-five-year-old Samantha Gauche is currently held for the murder of her husband, Leon Jansen van Rensburg. She allegedly ran over him with a bakkie several times until he died.
Samantha appeared in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court for a formal bail application after she allegedly murdered her husband.
According to the police, Samantha Gauche and Jansen van Rensburg, 50, were at a friend’s house at Plot 72 Modder East Orchards Ellon in Sundra, Mpumalanga, when an altercation ensued. Samantha allegedly got into her car. Her husband denied her the opportunity to drive and stood behind it.
Unflinching, Samantha drove over Jansen, and he fell. She crushed her husband and drove back and forth several times over his lifeless body. He succumbed to fatal injuries. She fled the scene but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree about a kilometre away.
The wife tried to run away again but was stopped by farm workers who alerted the police. She was arrested and charged with murder.
Samantha Gauche’s motive for the alleged murder is still unclear. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Gauche will remain in custody until her next court appearance on October 16.
