Police in Bulawayo are seeking the assistance of the public in their investigation into the discovery of human remains.
It is reported that on 8 October and at around 4pm, an informant reported the sighting of two human legs protruding from a sack under a tree in a bushy area near Good Hope Secondary School in Pumula South.
Upon receiving the report, the police promptly attended to the scene. They found two human legs in an advanced state of decomposition, enclosed in a grey sack.
It is reported that the legs were located about 10 metres from an unnamed dust road near Good Hope Secondary School. The surrounding area appeared to have been burnt.
Despite conducting a thorough search no other remains or evidence were discovered at the scene. The gender of the person is unknown but it was determined that the legs could fit into shoes ranging from size six to eight.
It is reported that in order to gather more information and establish the identity of the deceased, the human remains have been taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for a post-mortem.
The results of the examination may provide crucial details that could aid in the ongoing investigations.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged anyone with information regarding the incident or any potential leads to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
They are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who may have noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the vicinity of Good Hope Secondary School around the time of discovery.
