A FORM One student at Rukuma Secondary School in Mhondoro, Godfery Madziva,15, who died on Wednesday after the family house collapsed amid heavy rains, has been buried at Madziva Village.
According his uncle, Munyaradzi Madziva, the late Godfery succumbed to head injuries he sustained after he was trapped under the rubble.
He died at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital on Wednesday.
“The late Godfery was a student at Rukuma Secondary School doing Form One here in Mhondoro Mubaira.
“Last Tuesday, at around 2am, there were violent heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds in our area and the house could not withstand these powerful forces and collapsed.
“Six Madziva family members — the father, mother and their four children were in the house.
“Godfery sustained head injuries and was bleeding from the nose, he was taken to the local clinic and was later transferred to Harare where he died.
“He was laid to rest on Friday, here at Madziva Village in Mhondoro Mubaira.”
Chegutu Rural District Council Ward 2 Councillor, Francis Garakara, confirmed Godfery’s deathy.
“We have laid to rest a young boy here in Mhondoro Mubaira at Madziva Village, who died after heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, destroyed the family house he was sleeping in.
The heavy rains and strong winds left a trail of destruction and claimed lives across the country.
