Tyler Perry, a writer, actor, producer, and director best known for creating and then playing the iconic character of Madea in several movies, has now signed a deal with one of the biggest movie-streaming platforms, Netflix. As per the deal, Tyler will be making movies for the streaming giant for the upcoming few years. According to Variety Magazine, the agreement signed between Tyler and Netflix spans over four years, and the director will have to make eight movies during this period.
Despite Tyler playing coy about the deal, it was teased by Endeavor and TKO CEO Ari Emanuel at the Bloomberg Media’s Screentime conference on October 11, 2023.
Ari revealed that he just closed two deals with Netflix for David Ellison and Perry. Reacting to the TKO CEO’s statement, the Good Deeds director said, “Ari talks too much,” adding that he will wait for the streaming platform to announce the deal first.
He added, “But yeah, Netflix has been an incredible partner to work with, and so is Amazon. It’s been really incredible, and that’s all I have to say about it.”
Perry is already working on two different projects, a World War II set drama titled Six Triple Eight and a thriller titled Mea Culpa revolving around the life of a criminal defense attorney played by Kelly Rowland
