A recent incident in Bulawayo’s high-density suburb of Old Pumula saw a female drug peddler, identified as Nokuthaba Sibanda, resorting to desperate measures to evade arrest.
Spotting detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department’s Drugs and Narcotics section, she hastily concealed a sachet of methcathinone in her buttocks.
Little did Sibanda know that the detectives were acting on a tip-off. They approached her and requested permission to conduct a thorough search. Initially agreeing, Sibanda eventually retrieved the sachet from her buttocks, leading to her subsequent arrest.
Inspector Abednico Ncube, the spokesperson for the Bulawayo police, confirmed the incident and expressed gratitude to the public for providing information that led to Sibanda’s apprehension. He commended the community for their cooperation, emphasizing that such collaboration was crucial in the ongoing fight against drug and substance abuse.
Insp. Ncube acknowledged the detrimental impact of drug and substance abuse, particularly on the lives of young people. He reassured the public that the government had intensified its efforts to combat this issue. Furthermore, he urged community members to come forward with any information regarding drug dealers in their neighbourhoods. By doing so, they would assist the police in apprehending and bringing the culprits to justice.
