Newly-crowned premier soccer league champions Ngezi Platinum Stars have appointed another female chief executive officer Amanda Nyanzero, replacing Yvonne Mapika–Manwa who took up the same position at the Zimbabwe Football Association earlier the beginning of this month.
Nyanzero is the third female CEO to take the reins at the Mhondoro Ngezi-based platinum miners after Nyasha Kadenge who took up the position in 2016 until last year when she left and was replaced by Mapika- Manwa.
Ngezi Platinum Stars announced the development through a statement on Tuesday.
“Ngezi Platinum Stars Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Amanda Nyanzero as the Club’s new Chief Executive Officer. Mrs Nyanzero takes over from Mrs Yvonne Manwa Mapika who left the Club in October 2023.
“Amanda, who holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is in her final year pursuing a PhD in Governance, boasts of a wealth of both financial and administrative experience having served as an executive accountant at the Graca Machel Trust for seven years. Her good financial acumen which not only echoes the Club’s sustainable growth ambitions is important for sound administration, while her experience on inclusivity and empowerment aligns with Ngezi Platinum’s vision of building a strong brand with strong grassroots development,” read part of the statement.
“She will be key in heading the Club’s secretariat, upholding the Club culture, developing strategies and ensuring a holistic and sustainable development of the Club as we seek to establish an institution that will outlive all of us, and as we transcend to the next level of football administration.”
Madamburo, as the club is affectionately known by its fans, wrapped up the league title with two games to spare on Saturday when they beat Simba Bhora 2 – 1 at their home ground Baobab Stadium.
This Saturday they entertain Cranborne Bullets at Baobab in their penultimate match of the season.
