ZIMBABWE’s Chevrons head into their third assignment of the International Cricket Council (ICC”) men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers against Uganda in Windhoek, Namibia this Sunday hoping to post yet another good result. Zimbabwe were back on track after a hard-fought nine-wicket victory over Tanzania in their second match.
The Chevrons had earlier fallen to a humiliating 7-wicket defeat to minnows Namibia before finding their way back against Tanzania this Friday. With the focus now on Uganda, morale is high in the Chevrons camp ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
On the other hand, Uganda hope to dust themselves after also being wounded by hosts, Namibia on Friday. The match promises to be a thriller after some Chevrons players, who play for Takashinga Cricket Club in domestic cricket met Team Uganda during Takashinga T20 series in Harare earlier this month.
The seven teams; Zimbabwe, hosts Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are participating at the regional qualifiers that will see two top teams booking slots at the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America.
