It is a dark day for the clan of Chief Senator Matsiwo of Mbire, who lost three members in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred yesterday morning at the 20km peg along the Mvurwi-Kanyemba road.
The trio was among six people travelling from Harare to Mbire who d!ed after an Isuzu 5-ton lorry they were travelling in was involved in an accident after its steering rack bolted out before overturning just after Impinge area in Guruve.
Though police could not readily comment, Chief Matsiwo confirmed the accident that claimed his aide, young brother and one of his workers.
“It is a sad moment for me and the people of Kaude village, in Masomo, Ward 14 following the d3ath of my closest relatives in an accident that happened on Friday.
“The lorry which was carrying six people aboard developed a fault with the steering rack before veering off the road where it overturned k!lling Promise Kusangana (22), my employee, on the spot,” narrated Chief Matsiwo.
Aaron Kavhu, the Chief’s young brother and Bhasiriwo Mandengu (54), the aide, d!ed upon admission at Guruve District Hospital.
“My other two in-laws and the driver survived with minor injuries. Today we are laying to rest Promise whilst the other two bodies will be coming home tonight, it is indeed a dark hour for me and the rest of the families,” said Chief Matsiwo.
