In an unexpected turn of events, two brothers were left regretting the day they chose to embrace basic human kindness and play the role of Good Samaritans.
Little did they know that their act of kindness would backfire, leaving them robbed of US$2,000 by three cunning individuals who had initially approached them seeking assistance.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed by Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
According to Inspector Mahoko, the incident unfolded at Truckers Inn Kwekwe on Monday evening. The two brothers, Edson and Kidson Kutyauripo, were parked when three men approached them, claiming to have a flat tire along the highway and requested help.
Moved by their compassionate nature, the two brothers stepped out of their vehicle, ready to lend a helping hand. As the brothers stepped out of their car intending to aid the supposed stranded trio, one of the men abruptly brandished an iron bar and attacked the Kutyauripo brothers. Miraculously, one of the brothers managed to flee the scene. However, fate was not as kind to the other brother, who endured a relentless onslaught while being forcefully dragged into their parked vehicle.
“The two brothers got out of their car intending to help the three but one of them suddenly drew out an iron bar and started beating up the Kutyauripo brothers. One of the brothers managed to escape but the other was dragged into the car while being assaulted,” said Insp Mahoko.
Following the assault, the three assailants proceeded to search the brothers’ car, making off with $2,000 in cash and cellphones, the value of which remains undisclosed at the time of writing. The current condition of the brother who was unable to escape is also unknown as of now.
