THE Zimbabwe women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, are set to host Ireland women in the limited-overs series at Harare Sports Club from the 14th to the 16th of this month.
The Lady Chevrons begin the year by welcoming familiar foes Ireland.
The technical team has released fixtures for the white ball series that will begin with three warm-up encounters in a 50-over format that will run from the 14th to the 16th of this month.
Eight limited-overs matches will be on the cards as scheduled, while three one-day internationals will be held on the 18th, 21st and 23rd of this month. Garry Brant’s ladies will have a two-day break before returning to the field in the T20 format.
Led by skipper Mary-Anne Musonda, the Lady Chevrons will play five-match T20 series on the 26th, 28th and 30th of this month. They will conclude the series on the 1st and 2nd of February.
The two sides clashed in the semi-finals of last year’s World Cup Qualifier which was won by Ireland. The Ireland series comes at a time when the Lady Chevrons are preparing for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
The Lady Chevrons and Ireland are part of the 10 nations set to take part in the global qualifier. The World Cup Qualifier will determine the final two slots for the T20 World Cup which will be held in Bangladesh between September and October this year.
