President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, Sean Mnangagwa, won an award during a military training graduation in China
Sean, who is Collins’s twin, travelled to China for a military exchange programme in 2023 with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. He had embarked on an advanced military training programme.
Sean, who joined the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) in 2010, serves in the Presidential Guard.
Speaking on the military exchange last year, President Mnangagwa’s son commented:
“Deep cooperation between Zimbabwe and China in their yearly military exchange programs provides an opportunity for both countries to learn from each other’s experiences, tactics, and technologies. These programs are designed to enhance warfare strategies, chemical warfare capabilities, high-tech integration, infiltration techniques, and ground forces command, among other specialised tasks.”
Following the advanced military training exchange programme, Sean Mnangagwa has now graduated. Upon graduation, he attained honorary credentials, an Honours Certificate, and a Chinese People’s Liberation Army Certificate.
Sean Mnangagwa is the son of President Mnangagwa and First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa. He was born on February 24, 1987. After being in the army for 12 years, he passed a junior staff course and was reportedly promoted to the rank of army major in 2022.
In 2022, he lost his son, Yasha Mafidi, in 2002. Yasha succumbed to pneumonia at the age of five.
Social media users shared mixed emotions as Sean Mnangagwa graduated with awards at a Chinese advanced military training.

“He is training to protect his father when things turn south.”
Analisist:
“Sometimes Zimbabweans sound confused. We sound as if we want a president without children, and if he has those children, he should not do anything. Does he not have the right to work?
