Shortly after assuming the role of Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Sheillah Chikomo’s pictures have gone viral and flooded various social media platforms.Sheillah Chikomo has been trending because of her looks on social media. She has been dipped as an example of someone with both beauty and brains after her pictures and qualifications are being scrutinized.
Chikomo’s striking appearance has also contributed to her widespread appeal among the public. Serving as a Zanu PF legislator for Mwenezi East constituency, she secured her seat in the National Assembly during the last general elections. Familiarly known as Sheyz, Chikomo was born in Triangle, Masvingo province, on September 18, 1990.
Her educational journey includes attending Gokomere CPS and Berejena School for primary education and enrolling at Serima High School for advanced-level studies.
Public records reveal Chikomo’s impressive academic background, holding degrees such as a Bachelor of Social Science & Politics from Monash University, a Bachelor of Business Science & Economics from Monash Malaysia, a Masters of International Business (MIB) from Monash SA, a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance from Laureate, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Wits University.
Her diverse interests encompass politics, justice, foreign affairs, mining, education, economics, and trade.
In a nation predominantly led by elderly individuals, mostly male, and many of whom have surpassed their prime, the appointment of a 34-year-old, well-educated female minister like Chikomo has captured widespread attention. This stands out even when compared to other African countries with younger ministers.
For instance, Namibia’s Deputy Minister of Information, Emma Theofelus, assumed office at 27. Botswana appointed Bogolo Kenewendo Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry at 31. Meanwhile, in Rwanda, Jean de Dieu Uwihanganyea became the country’s youngest-ever minister at 30.
It’s worth noting that the youngest minister in Zimbabwe’s history is Joice Mujuru, who joined the cabinet at 25 in 1980
