A sombre atmosphere envelops ZRP Pfupajena Station in Chegutu after 35-year-old police officer Elisha Munengerwa was found m_rdered. The circumstances surrounding his d3ath, discovered on Friday night, remain shrouded in mystery, leaving the community in shock.
According to source, Elisha Munengerwa, deployed at Kaguvi Primary Polling station for the recent by-elections, was found with a deep cut on his left arm. The 3rd February memo reveals that Munengerwa succumbed to his injuries upon admission to the hospital. The case is now under investigation, identified as RRB 5785652.
At approximately 3 am, Farai Chifodya, an informant, was startled awake by groaning sounds outside his tuckshop. Investigating the disturbance, he discovered Munengerwa lying injured, bleeding profusely. Quick to respond, Farai reported the incident to ZRP Pfupajena. He came back with some officers from the station to the crime scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, the responding officers were stunned to find their colleague in such a state. Rushing the injured officer to Chegutu Hospital, unfortunately, Munengerwa was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The memo specifies a deep cut on Munengerwa’s front left lower arm, indicative of a knife-inflicted wound. A trail of blood spanning approximately 100 meters from the discovery point paints a grim picture of the struggle that unfolded that night.
With visible struggle marks on the deceased’s body, authorities have initiated an investigation, treating the case as a homicide. The police are diligently working to unravel the mystery surrounding Elisha Munengerwa’s untimely death.
