Mutemwa Leprosy Catholic Care Centre located in Mutoko gave birth to the development of Mutoko centre.
Mutoko centre has beautiful housing development projects well organized. There are banks, Mutoko Hospital, Private schools,Pharmacies,
hardwares,Pick and Pay shop,service stations,wholesales, and many more. It is still growing Mutoko centre. It was awarded town status last year.
The backbone of Mutoko is farming and market gardening. Most young women in Mutoko make their livelihood through farming vegetables,tomatoes and many more.
They sell their produce at Mutoko centre and supply other markets like Mbare musika in Harare their produce. The young women at times sell along the Mutoko Nyamapanda highway their produce to motorists and tourists who visit Mutemwa Leprosy Catholic Care Centre as pilgrims.
The Catholic church spear headed rural and urban development in most rural and urban areas in Zimbabwe.
