In a disturbing incident that highlights the prevalence of ƨǝxuɑl @buse against minors, a 27-year-old butcher from Chitungwiza, Farai Chezhira, has been apprehended for allegedly r@ping and impregnating a 12-year-old girl. The harrowing incident took place in September of last year, but the @buse only came to light recently when the victim’s grandmother noticed her pregnancy.
According to reports, the Grade 6 girl was sent to Unit O Shopping Centre to purchase eggs when she encountered Farai. Using deceitful tactics, he lured her into a room behind the Big-H Butchery where he allegedly r@ped her. It is alleged that he threatened to k!ll the young girl if she disclosed the s3xual @buse to anyone.
The matter was reported to the police after the victim’s grandmother discovered her pregnancy. Prompt action was taken, and the girl was taken to Edith Cooperman Clinic in Mbare, where medical professionals confirmed her pregnancy. Subsequently, Farai was arrested by the police.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, provided details of the incident, emphasizing the severity of the crime. He stated, “The accused person then lured the complainant into a room behind the butchery where he raped her once without protection.
“The accused then threatened to k!ll the complainant if she disclosed the s3xual @buse to anyone. The matter came to light when the complainant’s grandmother noticed that she was pregnant.
“The child was escorted to Edith Cooperman Clinic, Mbare, where it was confirmed that she was pregnant leading to the arrest of the suspect,” said Insp Chakanza.
