YOUTH Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training minister, Tinoda Machakaire, is set to lead a Zimbabwean youth delegation to Russia for the international World Youth Festival (WYF) which begins on Thursday.
The WYF is the largest youth event in the world.
“Youth participants were selected from youth associations. Participation of youth delegates was possible after completing all selection stages and those who were successful received invitation letters from the Festival Directorate,” Machakaire said in a statement.
“The festival is a huge opportunity for the participants to meet, interact, learn and share experiences with other youth from around the world.
“Participants will have an opportunity to take part in workshops, discussions, panel sessions, training, concerts and talk shows.”
The global event that is expected to attract over 20 000 delegates will be held in the Sirius Federal Territory in Sochi, Russia from 1 March to 7 March 2024.
“Leaders in business, media, international cooperation, culture, science, education, volunteers, sports and youthful members of political parties will be among the participants,” he said.
Machakaire urged the country’s representatives to behave and be discipled in Moscow.
“Any cases of indiscipline will be dealt with accordingly. Participants are representatives of the Zimbabwean Government and high standards of good behaviour cannot be understated.”
