Around the same time, a four-year-old girl who was playing with her friends stepped on a metal sheet covering a well, and it folded before she plunged inside and drowned.
In 2017, four family members suffocated in a well in Budiriro 4, Harare, as they attempted to drain water using a submersible pump. Authorities alleged that the man and his three sons could have died from inhaling carbon monoxide gas while in the deep well.
