ZANU PF Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Politburo, Lt Gen (Rtd) Engelbert A. Rugeje on Sunday met with the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and lnvestment Promotion, Mthuli Ncube, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration between the Party and the Ministry.
As reported by journalist Brenna Matendere, the meeting was held in Victoria Falls on the sidelines of the 56th Session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development from the whole continent from 28 February to 5th March 2024.
Deputy Finance Minister Kudakwashe David Mnangagwa and the ZANU PF Director for Economic Affairs Anastancia Ndhlovu also attended the meeting.
Ncube and Rugeje agreed on the need for a more inclusive budget that reflects the Party’s vision and priorities as espoused by President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.
The engagement saw an agreement being stitched to recognize that it is important to have “broader and more inclusive” consultations on economic policies in general and adequate pre-budget consultations which should start early enough for the Government to cover the views of all stakeholders.
