A SERIAL robber and r@pist has been jailed 25 years by Harare magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni.
Blessing Mutota was facing three counts of r@pe and two counts of robbery.
“The normal range of sentence for r@pe is 15 to 20 years. The younger the victim, the more the sentence,” Mtombeni said.
“For unlawful entry in aggravating circumstances, the offences were committed at night and showed that there was preplanning.”
The State proved that Mutota threatened to shoot one of the victims before robbing them of their money.
State prosecutor Kelvin Munyimi told the court that Mutota used the same modus operandi, where he would break into people’s homes and r@pe his victims, especially young girls.
The State proved that Mutota would threaten the girls with a gun and a kn!fe before r@ping them.
