Residents of Samora Machel, Cape Town, are coming to terms with the discovery of a d3ad woman found seated on a toilet on Friday morning.
The woman, identified as Buyiswa Jacobs, a 51-year-old mother of six children, was found at a house where she did not reside, raising questions about how she got there.
Buyiswa’s family, who live about two kilometres away, described her as responsible and dedicated, with no alcohol consumption habits. Actively involved in her community as a patroller, her sudden disappearance has d3vastated her family, who are d3sperate for answers.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg, spokesperson for the Western Cape Police, confirmed the opening of an inquest docket:
“Samora Machel police registered an inquest for investigation after the body of an unknown female was found inside a toilet in Samora Machel Road. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of d3ath. We encourage anyone with any information about this incident to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
Residents were shocked by the gru3some discovery, and Bongani Maqungwana, spokesperson for the Community Police Forum, expressed fr_stration and demanded clarity:
“The incident has left us with questions, and we are looking for answers,” said Maqungwana, ech0ing the sentiments of many in the community.
Buyiswa’s family is reeling from this h3artbreaking l0ss. Her sister, Phumla Sam, told Ezitshisayo that she last saw her on Thursday, 21 March, the evening after her return from an ANC service delivery protest in Cape Town.
Suspecting f0ul play, Phumla believes Buyiswa may have been lured away by someone she knew. More questions arise about how Buyiswa ended up in a toilet within a well-fenced property.
