A Marondera businessman Francisco Marconati has @cc_s3d the police Central Investigation Department (CID) and National Prosecuting Authority of unfair treatment over his cases he reported against his former business partner saying he has been @rrested more than eight times on trumped up charges but they failed to act on the @llegations with clear evidence he brought to them.
Marconati wrote a letter to Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga complaining about the conduct of some police officers.
The businessman said his former business partner Li Song allegedly externalised millions of United States dollars to offshore bank accounts thereby sabotaging the Zimbabwe economy and that they have clear evidence but the police are reluctant to bring her to court.
ln the letter to Matanga, Marconati said he reported an attempted m_rd3r allegations against Song at Dornington Police Station under case number CR43/01/24 at Dornington Police Station in January this year but the officers assigned to investigate are refusing to bring the suspect to court despite recording warned and cautioned statements from the @cc_s3d.
The businessman said after reporting his case the case there was no movement of the case despite witnesses being recorded the statements.
Marconati said he then wrote a letter to the officer in-charge at Dornington Police Station over the delay in how the matter he reported was being handled and then requested for it to be transferredto Harare Homicide but they refused.
“I wrote to the Officer-in-charge Domington Police Station Bulawayo requesting that the case l had reported for attempted murder against Li Song be transferred to CID Homicide Harare.
” I stated my reasons in the letter, mainly being that my life and that of my son is under threat and that since all witness statements had been collected, and that @cc_s3d person has on numerous occasions managed to wriggle her way out of police investigations through namedropping of high ranking government officials based in Harare.
“As such, if the matter was to be transferred to Harare, it meant that when a@cc_s3d person tries to play her usual cards, then any such claims would quickly be brought to the fingered authorities and handled without delay,” Marconati said in his letter to Commissioner General.
Marconati said the officer in-charge Dornington police station insisted that they will handle the case without delay and the matter was assigned to one Detective Gadzai.
The businessman said RBZ is also a complainant in another case of extenalisation against her which led to the blocking of its account for several months.
Song is also facing monelaundering charges and fraud allegations after she stole from the company more than US$2 million and the reports were made but the case has not moved.
The NPA is also @cc_s3d of refusing to set the trial dates on matters that he reported giving flimsy reasons.
Last year Marconati s_ed CID bosses that included Jealous Nyabasa for failing to bring the dockets he reported to court.
After his report the dockets were brought to court and the NPA refused to act on them raising fears that there were interference.
