ZRP Has Announced Cash Reward (US$1,000) For The Arrest Of CCC Spokesperson

“We Are Currently Seized With Monitoring The Electoral Process” -CCC

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced a US$1,000 cash reward for the capture of Promise Mkwananzi, the national spokesperson for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

In an official statement shared on Thursday evening, ZRP is seeking information leading to the arrest of Mkwananzi and two others, Clayd Mashozhera and Noel Munhuweyi.

“I Was Cleared”: CCC Spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi Speaks
According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the trio is currently evading the authorities. Mkwananzi is wanted for failing to appear in court for a 2020 public violence case.

Meanwhile, Mashozhera and Munhuweyi are facing charges of assault and malicious property damage for allegedly attacking four individuals and setting a vehicle on fire in Sunningdale, Harare, on August 23, 2023.

The full statement released by the police reads:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police seeks information in connection with the current location of Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi, Clayd Mashozhera and Noel Munhuweyi.

Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi is facing two counts of contravening section 22 (2) (e) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 and contravening section 187 (1)(b) as read with subsection 36 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law(Codification and Reform) Chapter 9:23. The suspect defaulted court proceedings and was duly issued with a warrant of arrest under Harare Central CR 2627/07/19 and Harare Magistrate Court CRB 12115/19.

Clayd Mashozhera and Noel Mhunhuweyi are facing three counts of Assault and Malicious Damage to Property after allegedly beating four complainants and setting their vehicle on fire in Sunningdale, Harare on 23 August 2023.

A reward of USD$1000-00 (cash) is being offered to anyone who supplies credible information leading to the location and subsequent arrest of the suspects.

It’s worth noting that last month, Promise Mkwananzi denied the existence of an outstanding arrest warrant, asserting that he had been cleared of all charges brought against him.

He expressed scepticism about the police’s motives, suggesting they were attempting to intimidate and restrict people’s freedoms.

Taking to X, Mkwananzi wrote,

Please be informed that I don’t have a warrant of arrest. I was cleared of all the flimsy charges that had been preferred against me. All these are lies, laughable desperation to intimidate & restrict people’s freedoms.
