The recently sworn-in proportional representation Member of Parliament for Bulawayo for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Dr. Thokozani Khupe, has revealed that she is currently facing health challenges.
Concerns arose among Zimbabweans due to her noticeably frail appearance, prompting worries about her well-being.
The opposition leader’s recent thin and weak appearance raised immediate concerns that her rumoured cancer may have returned. However, Dr Thokozani Khupe took to her verified social media account (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday to provide clarity on her health status.
Dr. Khupe confirmed the unfortunate news of her cancer recurrence. She reassured everyone that she is coping well and expressed gratitude for the warm wishes of those already hoping for her speedy recovery.
“I have a second cancer attack. I am doing well, and many thanks to those already wishing me well. Together we can beat cancer,” Khupe confirmed on X.
Following her confirmation, fellow social media users and politicians expressed their support and wishes for her recovery. Some of the messages included:
@KarenyiKore:
You are a fighter and God will continue to heal you Hon. In God we trust.
@Cde_Ostallos:
You’re recovering well doc and we wish you a speedy one 🙏🏽
@RangaMberi:
You beat it before and I pray you beat it again. Wishing you all the best 🙏🏾
@BMutebuka:
Wish you a speedy recovery. I can only imagine how dreadful that news was to you. Politics pales into insignificance in comparison with the battle that you’re currently facing. All the best.
@AudreyChimwanda:
Wishing you strength with each new day as you heal and recover Dr Khupe
It’s worth noting that Dr. Khupe is a survivor of breast cancer, having been diagnosed in 2011. In 2022, she established the Thokozani Khupe Cancer Foundation with the aim of raising awareness about breast cancer and other forms of cancer.
