Chinhoyi Mayor Owen Charuza and his driver narrowly escaped d3ath when they were involved in a serious road acc!dent near the Mapinga Escarpment on Monday morning while going to Harare on municipal business.
The council-owned Nissan Hardbody vehicle they were traveling in suffered extensive damage after being str+ck by a transport truck from behind while giving way to a vehicle in front.
Chinhoyi City Council spokesperson Tichaona Mlauzi confirmed the acc!dent to The Heraldalthough provincial police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera did not immediately provide further details.
Mayor Charuza, who was rushed to the Mutorashanga clinic for medical attention, suffered injur!es to his hand, chest and neck.
