With only a week left until the highly-anticipated 44th Uhuru Cup, Murambinda B High School football pitch is looking pristine and ready to host the match between giants Dynamos and Highlanders.
Construction on the facility is progressing smoothly, with the finishing touches being applied to the changing rooms. While the terraces at both ends are still under construction, the overall progress of the work is on schedule, ensuring that the stadium will be fit for the epic encounter.
Ahead of the 44th Uhuru Cup, soccer fans will be treated to an exciting curtain raiser as Manica Diamonds and Simba Bhora b@ttle it out on the pitch at Murambinda A Primary School Ground.
This match, scheduled for Wednesday, is a perfect warm-up act to the highly-anticipated “B@ttle of Zimbabwe” between Dynamos and Highlanders on Thursday at the main venue.
“We are well ahead of schedule in terms of the construction work of the stadium, which is the venue of the 44th Uhuru Cup.
“The installation of goalposts, markings and dugouts are expected to be completed today (yesterday) as well as well as the trimming of the turf.
“We are looking forward to completing the terracing of the stadium on Saturday.
“The inside plastering of the changing rooms, ceilings and tubing is currently ongoing and we expect all the required furniture to be in.
“We have no doubt that we will meet the set standards for this high-profile match,” said Berejena.
Shupikai Berejena , Sports and Recreation Commission coordinator for Manicaland Shupikai Berejena emphasized that the Uhuru Cup preliminary match between Manica Diamonds and Simba Bhora would not be held on the same field as the highly-anticipated Dynamos and Highlanders encounter, which will serve as the main event of the Independence Day festivities.
“We will have Manica Diamonds and Simba Bhora clashing at Murambinda A Primary School Ground on the eve of the Independence Day celebrations, as part of the President’s Children’s Party.”
