THE extradition from South Africa of the Zvimba couple; John Zvivi and Lister Sibanda, who allegedly m_rdered a four-year-old girl last year, is now at an advanced stage.
Zimbabwe Republic Police National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed to the ZBC News this Tuesday that they are working on bringing the Zvimba m_rder suspects back home.
“We can confirm that the processes to bring back Zvivi and Lister Sibanda are now at advanced stage. Remember the extradition processes involves a lot of paper work but as the Police we are happy to announce that we are working together with other partners to bring them back home. I want to assure the nation that definitely the suspects will be brought back home to stand trial.”
Zvivi and Sibanda allegedly fatally assa_lted the four year old girl and also injured her six-year-old sister in June last year.
The body of the victim was later discovered with a deformed face stashed in a 25kg sack and dumbed in a stream along Harare-Bulawayo Road, between Kuwadzana Extension and Glaudina in Harare.
The couple fled to South Africa where it was later apprehended and surrendered to the police.
It emerged that the victims’ mother and her children had come for a holiday in April 2023 and the mother left the two children in the custody of the couple when she returned to South Africa.
It also emerged that few months later, the couple told the children’s mother that the now-dece_sed was not feeling well before advising her to send some money.
The mother of the children got a shock of her life after she was advised that her four-year-old daughter had d!ed suddenly and she was told that the daughter had been buried in Zaka, Masvingo which later turned to be a lie.
