Chapo to be Mozambique’s next  President-Nyusi

Filipe Nyusi choose Daniel Chapo as his successor and Presidential candidate

Mozambique ruling party,the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frente de Libertação de Moçambique) FRELIMO run by President Filipe Nyusi has chose Daniel Chapo as his successor and Presidential candidate.

Chapo who is 42-years-old was aborn after the Mozambique’s liberation war, making him the first ‘born free’ to lead Mozambique if his party wins the general election.He was chosen after a three-day meeting of FRELIMO’s central committee. He is currently holding a position of a governor at Inhambane Province

FRELIMO party is one of the most recognised party due to its immense contribution as it brought Mozambique’s independence from Portuguese colonial rule in 1975.Thier general elections are set to be held on October 9 2024.

Mozambique’s ruling party, the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frente de Libertação de Moçambique) FRELIMO, has chosen Daniel Chapo as its presidential candidate and successor to President Filipe Nyusi.

At 47 years old, Chapo was born after Mozambique’s liberation war, making him the first ‘born free’ to lead Mozambique if his party wins the general election.

FRELIMO is the party that brought Mozambique’s independence from Portuguese colonial rule in 1975.

Daniel Chapo was chosen after a three-day meeting of FRELIMO’s central committee.
He is currently the governor of Inhambane Province and has never held national office in the cabinet.

General elections are scheduled to be held in Mozambique on 9 October 2024.
