On May 5, 2024, a tragic road traffic acc!dent occurred at the 6 km peg along the Gweru-Shurugwi Road, resulting in the d3ath of one individual and injur!es to 29 others.
According to police reports, the inc!dent involved two White Nissan Caravan Kombis, each carrying 18 passengers. The side swipe collision caused severe dam@ge to passengers.
The deceased v!ctim was pronounced d3ad at the scene and taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of d3ath.
The 29 !njured individuals were also transported to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
The police are investigating the acc!dent to determine the factors that led to the collision and to identify potential negligence or vi0lations of traffic rules by either of the drivers involved.
