David Coltart, a former Education Minister and current Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Councillor for Ward 4, has been elected as the new Mayor of Bulawayo unopposed.
Coltart will be deputized by Clr Danaldson Mabutho.The senior official was elected Ward 4 councillor during the August 23 elections.
Coltart has expressed that his immediate focus as the new mayor is to address the challenges faced by the city and ensure that Bulawayo is better organized and clean.
He has referred to the city as a “cesspit” and highlighted the need for collaboration between the council, local businesses, residents, associations, and churches to tackle the issue of rubbish and improve the city’s cleanliness.
Ward 18 Councillor Ian Makone Crowned As Harare’s New Mayor
Meanwhile, CCC’s Ian Makone has emerged as the new face of hope and progress for the capital city of Harare after he was elected as Mayor.
With the departure of Ward 17’s Mayor Jacob Mafume, Makone steps into the spotlight as the city’s beacon of change.
The dynamic councillor from Ward 18 has captured the hearts of Harare’s residents, promising a brighter future and a resounding transformation.
As he takes on the mantle of Mayor, Makone will be supported by Kudzai Kadzombe of Ward 41, who will serve as the Deputy Mayor.
According to Source, in a decisive vote, Makone secured 46 votes, leaving his Zanu PF challenger, Temany Utete, with just seven. Kadzombe also emerged victoriously with 47 votes, overshadowing Zanu PF’s Susan Chuma, who managed to garner only seven votes.
Makone’s visionary agenda resonates deeply with the hopes and dreams of the city’s inhabitants, who yearn for enhanced living conditions and vital services.
