The tentative date for the burial of national hero Joshua Malinga has been set for Saturday at the National Heroes Acre in Harare, according to his family.
Malinga, aged 79, passed away from prostate cancer last Friday, and President Mnangagwa declared him a national hero in recognition of his efforts in advocating for minority rights.
At the time of his death, Malinga served as a Special Advisor to President Mnangagwa, focusing on disability-related issues, and he was praised for his outstanding service in this role.
The Zanu-PF Bulawayo province conveyed the national hero status to Malinga’s family at their Richmond suburb residence. During the visit, Molly Mpofu, a Zanu-PF Politburo member, read the Presidential message and handed the letter to Malinga’s widow.
Malinga’s brother, Shadreck Malinga, expressed gratitude for the national hero status conferred on his brother and mentioned that the family was coordinating with the government regarding the burial arrangements. While the proposed date for the burial is Saturday, there may be changes in the coming days
