Socialite and comedian Felistas Murata, widely known as Mai Titi has hit back at critics who criticised her for visiting and posing for pictures with President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Mother’s Day.
Mai Titi, is a member of the ZANU PF-affiliated group Young Women for ED. Recently, she had the opportunity to meet President Mnangagwa, the First Secretary of the ruling party.
In the viral picture, Mai Titi looked elegant, impeccably dressed in the national attire with a crisp white blouse and a blue fabric skirt, complete with a matching headgear. She was seen kneeling respectfully beside President Mnangagwa, who was clad in a blue blazer, khaki pants, and his trademark scarf, engaged in conversation.
However, the picture sparked controversy online, with some accusing her of selling out for personal gain.
Responding to the backlash, Mai Titi addressed the criticisms:
“Everyone has the right to support whoever they choose without being judged. It’s disheartening to see angry reactions to my post with the President. I support His Excellency and First Lady Dr Auxilia Mnangagwa and am a member of Zanu PF. If you disagree, that’s your prerogative.
“I’ve witnessed the positive changes they’ve brought to our nation, from infrastructure to social initiatives like the Angel of Hope Foundation. While change takes time, progress is evident every day.
“Instead of focusing solely on the negatives, let’s acknowledge the good deeds. I choose to support positive actions and won’t be swayed by baseless criticism. Love and respect for our President is essential for national unity. Let’s unite and build Zimbabwe together. I stand with Zanu PF.” She also asserted that people shouldn’t ignore the progress being made at the airport and on the roads. Social media users reacts
