President Mnangagwa embarked on a significant tour today, inspecting the progress of the new parliament access roads and villas slated to accommodate delegates during the upcoming SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in August.
Accompanied by Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi and other senior government officials, including Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon Felix Mhona, President Mnangagwa’s tour aimed to closely monitor the ongoing construction of the roads, conference center, and 18 villas designated for the summit.
The tour underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that essential infrastructure is in place to host the prestigious SADC Summit successfully. As the country prepares to welcome dignitaries from across the region, President Mnangagwa’s proactive approach in overseeing the construction progress reflects Zimbabwe’s readiness to showcase its capabilities on the international stage.
President Mnangagwa assessed the advancement of the infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of timely completion to meet the summit’s requirements.
“I am so happy that my vision is slowly actualising slowly but I am so happy,” he said
As the tour concluded, President Mnangagwa expressed confidence in the progress made thus far, highlighting the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering world-class facilities for the SADC Summit.
“Zimbabwe is a member of SADC, and the summits are held by member states, so there is really nothing exceptional about Zimbabwe hosting the summit,” said his Excellence.
With just months remaining until the summit convenes, Zimbabwe stands poised to host a successful gathering of regional leaders, fostering cooperation and dialogue for the advancement of Southern Africa.
