The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, has dismissed falsehoods being circulated by some online publications regarding operational matters at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). He stated that these reports aim to tarnish the image of the government.
In a statement, Dr. Muswere clarified that the ZBC board and Chief Executive Officer are responsible for managing the national broadcaster in accordance with the Public Entities and Corporate Governance Act. He emphasized that the deployment of staff at ZBC is also under the purview of the board and the Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Muswere urged media practitioners to carry out their duties within the confines of Section 61 of the Constitution and the Cyber and Data Protection Act. He encouraged the media to adhere to journalism ethics, which include truthfulness, accuracy, authenticity, and objectivity.
