Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Job Sikhala has denounced Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs Owen “Mudha” Ncube’s speech. This comes in response to Ncube’s statements urging youths not to tolerate Job Sikhala’s freedom of speech.
Addressing ZANU PF youths, Minister Ncube emphasised the pivotal role of youth in defending the party and its leadership. He urged them not to occupy positions or utilise party resources without actively safeguarding ZANU PF’s interests.
During his address, Minister Ncube specifically mentioned, “Youth, you are the ones who should defend the party and its leadership. You cannot allow Job Sikhala to speak freely while you are present.” He further added, “You must not permit Ostallos Siziba and his associates to speak in front of you.”
Ncube, a former Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) boss, reiterated the importance of vigilance among the youth, highlighting that they must not be complacent but actively protect the party and its leadership.
In response, Job Sikhala took to social media to express his concerns. He alleged that the ruling party intends to eliminate opposition members through violent means. Sikhala pointed out ongoing instances of torture and killings, labeling them as part of a recurring pattern. He voiced apprehensions about potential arrest and detention without bail if he were to confront these allegations directly.
Sikhala also lamented the perceived lack of recourse for opposition members, claiming that they are subjected to abuse, attacks, and incitements of terror without any means of redress.
The escalating tensions between Job Sikhala and Minister Ncube underscore broader political dynamics within Zimbabwe, highlighting the challenges faced by opposition figures and the complexities of youth involvement in partisan activities.
