Rapper Nicki Minaj was briefly detained and fined at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Saturday for allegedly possessing “soft dr_gs” in her luggage, as reported by Dutch authorities.
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Dutch national police agency, released a statement on social media Saturday night stating that a 41-year-old American woman was apprehended on suspicion of attempting to export soft dr_gs. Following consultations with local prosecutors, she was f!ned and released from custody. The specific amount of the fine was not disclosed.
Minaj voiced her frustration on Instagram, claiming interference in her tour preparations. She stated, “They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal.”
Unfortunately, her delay resulted in the cancellation of her concert at the last minute, disappointing 20,000 attendees who were already at the venue.

Notably, the possession of we*d is not legal in the Netherlands, although there is a national policy of non-enforcement for quantities up to 5 grams for Dutch nationals, with varying levels of enforcement across municipalities. Minaj’s fine indicates she exceeded this limit by over six times, elevating the offense to a criminal level. It’s worth mentioning that marijuana is permitted in certain parts of the United States.
