Mason Greenwood has rejoined Manchester United following the conclusion of his loan spell at Getafe, expressing gratitude to the Getafe family and fans for a great season.
The striker had joined La Liga club Getafe on a season-long loan from Manchester United last September, during which he scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists in 35 appearances.
In a social media update, Greenwood shared pictures of his time at Getafe along with a message:
“Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. Thank you for making me feel welcome and part of the team. I enjoyed every moment alongside my teammates and the club. While it’s bittersweet to leave, it was a pleasure to play for you, and I wish you all the best.”
Despite his positive experience in the Spanish top-flight league, Manchester United’s current plan is to prioritise the sale of the striker this summer. This decision has elicited varied reactions among fans and commentators, with some supporting Greenwood’s return to the club while others agree with the decision to sell him.
Greenwood’s plans for the next season remain uncertain, with a return to United appearing unlikely, despite previous suggestions from Sir Jim Ratcliffe about the possibility.
