A married couple, Rungamirai Machinjike, 27, and Talent Rutindingwe, 33, from Chief Nhema, allegedly faked the d3ath of their 7-year-old daughter in a desperate attempt to defraud Ecosure Funeral Service.
According to reports, the couple cooked a story claiming that their young daughter had d!ed under mysterious circumstances, and subsequently submitted a fake d3ath certificate to Ecosure Funeral Service.
The funeral company, unaware of the deceit, went ahead to provide services and equipment for the funeral.
The motive behind the couple’s actions is still unclear, but it is believed that they were seeking to obtain financial compensation from the insurance company.
The amount of money they were attempting to fraudulently obtain is yet to be disclosed.
The investigation into the matter was launched after Ecosure Funeral Service noticed suspicious discrepancies in the couple’s claim. A thorough investigation was conducted, and the couple was eventually arrested and charged with fraud.
