Villagers in Mutasa district in Manicaland Province will today start receiving grains as part of drought relief program.
Newsreportzim.com has learnt from the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services’ X post that grain distribution to areas severely affected by the El-nino induced drought has started in Mutasa District.
The Food Mitigation Strategy program comes after the declaration of a state of disaster in April 2024 by H.E President
Mnangagwa.
Government has hastened to provide food assistance to food insecure households.
Chief James Mutasa confirmed receiving 155 tonnes of maize grains and he said he has started distribution under the Zunde raMambo.
Chief Mutasa said he is distributing the grain to 33 wards with each ward receiving 4 tonnes.
