MASVINGO – Police in Masvingo has launched a manhunt for Talent Chifa who is wanted for the murder of a colleague whom he allegedly struck on the head with an axe as revenge for burning his catapult.
Masvingo Police Deputy Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu told The Mirror that the incident happened on May 18, around 1 am at Boss Mine in Mashava.
Chifa allegedly struck Nkosilathi Mubango (23) and he succumbed to the injury a week later at Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare.
Circumstances are that Mubango burnt Chifa’s catapult on May 15, at Chiramadondo Shopping Centre as they were drinking beer together. The two got into an argument and did not fight. Chifa allegedly vowed to take his revenge on Mubango.
Three days later Chifa ambushed Mubango at Humali shop in Mashava as he was drinking beer with other patrons. He allegedly struck him with an axe once on the head.
Mubango was rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he was transferred to Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare. He died a week later on May 25.
“We are appealing for information that can lead to the arrest of Chifa. We also implore the public to resolve differences amicably,” said Patinyu
