Retail giant OK Zimbabwe has addressed the controversy surrounding the Karoi winner of the annual OK Grand Challenge.
In a statement, OK Zimbabwe clarified that the grand prize was awarded to a fortunate shopper from Karoi. The winner was contacted live on air during the OK Grand Challenge Race Day at Borrowdale Racecourse.
The statement comes in response to public skepticism about the recurring success of a Karoi resident in the annual competition. OK Zimbabwe emphasised that the OK Grand Challenge draws are audited, automated, and randomised. With over 10 million entries, they assured that no repeat winners secured any of the prizes worth a total of $1 million.
Despite these assurances, some netizens have criticised OK Zimbabwe, threatening to boycott next year’s Challenge due to perceived favoritism. They expressed frustration, claiming to have accumulated many points without winning.
OK Zimbabwe Limited launched the 2024 edition of the OK Grand Challenge in April, encouraging customers to shop, save, and win.
