Veteran award winning Nollywood actress and director, Genevieve Nnaji is expected to feature in a movie titled Speed Thrills written and produced by Masvingo based producer Kudakwashe Zoromera.
Zoromera told The Mirror in an interview that other high profile actors and personalities who will feature in the 1 hour and 40 minutes long movie include Zimbabwe Paralympian Elliot Mujaji and boxer Charles Manyuchi.
He said the movie is inspired by Marcus Garvey’s United States of Africa poem and the rise of organised crime in Africa. He said it is against this background that the movie will be shot in 100 days across several countries including Zimbabwe, South Africa and Madagascar. Locally it will be shot in all towns except Kariba.
“The film will be in English, Shona, Ndebele, Zulu, Afrikaans, Swahili and Venda. We are still in the pre-production phase. We are projecting to receive US$160 000 through product placement and grants and the entire production will cost US$80 000.
“Full production will run from September – December this year and the movie should premier in winter next year. Lessons to be drawn from the film are on anti-drug awareness, anti-corruption, ubuntuism and Christianity,” he said.
Zoromera is a former Great Zimbabwe University Social Anthropology student and director of Kuonera pictures.
He has worked on several other production including Chikwambo, a drama series directed by Normad Muzenda that premiered on ZTV under the auspices of Zim digital.
Zoromera told The Mirror that the project is inspired by Marcus Garvey’s United States of Africa poem and the rise of organised crime in Africa, Morgan Dembo who is a musician and son of the late music legend Leonard Dembo, International soccer player Ovidy Karuru and Zimbabwean based international Jazz musician Jazz Marabini among others.
