Various NGOs, albinism associations and individuals b0rn with albinism have observed today, June 13th which marks the International Albinism awareness day with different celebrations on their socials.
June 13, 2024 marks a decade of global efforts to promote the rights and well-being of individuals with albinism with this years’ them being,’10 years of IAAD: A decade of collective progress,’ .
The day is dedicated to celebrating the strength and contributions of people with albinism in different communities, while advocating for their inclusion, protection against discrimination, and equal rights.
Different organisations have recognised this day and its value to these individuals b0rn with albinism including the United Nations(UN) which highlighted that Albinos must be included in important discussions on human rights in order for them to protect themselves against discrimination.
The Africa Albinism Network also took time to appreciate individuals who contribute to the albinism community and mentioned how they are honoured to contribute to the advancement of the rights and well-being of people with albinism across Africa.
