A protest in Kenya has turned d3adly, with police sh00ting and k!lling one person near the country’s parliament, bringing the total de@th toll to 13.
The vi0lence occurred as thousands of protesters, mainly young people, clashed with security forces over proposed tax hikes.
The demonstrations began peacefully last week, with thousands of Kenyans taking to the streets to protest the Finance Bill 2024.
However, tensions escalated on Tuesday afternoon when police fired live rounds at crowds that had breached the parliament complex, leading to a fire breaking out and scores of people being !njured.
The Kenyan government has deployed the military to support police in maintaining order, after Defence Minister Aden Bare Duale declared a “security emergency” in the country.
