Opposition activists have demanded the release of Jameson Timba, the interim leader of the Citizen Coalition for Change, along with 78 other party activists.
Timba and the other activists are currently detained at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison in Harare, following the denial of bail by the Harare magistrate.
According to NDWG ‘s X post, newsreportzim.com has informed that the continued detention of Timba and 78 other is a cause for concern and it will cause the invoking of Section 59 of the Constitution to demand release of their compatriots.
“The continued detention of #Avondale79 is a cause for concern. Mnangwana must release them now before we release our anger. Our patience has been over stretched. This wanton disregard of civil liberties must be stopped.
We will soon invoke Section 59 of the Constitution to demand release of our compatriots,” the post reads.
Timba and 78 others were arrested at his resident in Avondale two weeks ago for allegedly holding an unauthorised political meeting.
