The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs & Devolution for Midlands Province, Honourable Owen Ncube, visited Zhombe on Friday to commission two new schools, St Judes Mazhe High and Masilahove Secondary Schools which were constructed by the Ministry of Health and Child Care through the National AIDS Council.
The two boarding schools are part of an effort to enhance the provision of accessible, quality, and affordable services that advance the aspirations of vulnerable populations, particularly the girl child in the surrounding community.
The schools are strategically located in an area where access to education and healthcare services has been a challenge.
The construction of the schools will help in addressing shortage of schools .
The schools will cater to both girls and boys, with a focus on empowering girls to pursue their educational aspirations.
The Minister emphasized the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and promoting sustainable development. He noted that education is key to equipping young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in the global job market.
“We are committed to ensuring that all children have access to quality education, regardless of their background or geographical location,” said Hon. Owen Ncube. “These schools will provide a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow, and we are confident that they will make a positive impact on the community.”
The National AIDS Council has also been involved in the construction process, providing technical assistance and guidance to ensure that the schools meet international standards for quality education.
