TWO friends were allegedly stabbed to de@th with a knife in a misunderstanding with another patron at a night club in Budiriro 1, Harare where they were drinking over the weekend.
The deceased have been identified as Alec Ruvhere (22) and Tadiwanashe Murerwa (20). Their bodies were taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital for post-mortem as investigations continue.
The incident occurred at Club Royal Night Club in Budiriro 1 around midnight on Saturday and the suspect has been identified as Cogitate Ganyiwa who is employed at Jumbo Inn in Mazowe.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident.
He said on July 6 at around 12.15am, Ganyiwa and his girlfriend Tadiwanashe Zivani (21) were drinking beer in the nightclub where the now deceased persons were also patrons. It is alleged that Murerwa stepped on Ganyiwa’s foot, resulting in a misunderstanding.
Murerwa then grabbed Ganyiwa by the collar and Alec Ruvhere tried to intervene, and he was stabbed on the lower diaphragms with an Okapi knife. Ruvhere collapsed and was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Murerwa who was also stabbed, tried to run away from the scene, but he later fell down outside the night club. His body was discovered by patrons lying lifeless facing downwards. A report was made at ZRP Budiriro who then summoned the CID Homicide.
Both deceased persons had deep cuts below the diaphragm.
Meanwhile, police have recovered the remains of a 16-year-old girl near a farm in Karoi after she has been missing since March 18 this year on her way to school.
The police have since launched investigations into the case.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The ZRP is investigating circumstances surrounding a case of murder in which the remains of a female juvenile aged 16 were found in a bush near Gremlin Farm, Karoi on July 4, 2024. The victim had gone missing on March 18, 2024 on her way to school.”
The police are also investigating a case of murder which occurred on July 5, 2024 at around 3pm in which Shiellah Utete (32) died in Chegutu.
The suspect, Watson Musika (40) allegedly struck his ex-wife, the victim, with an axe on the neck, shoulder and on the head in a bush near Maldon Compound, Chikari, Chegutu.
The suspect consumed suspected cyanide and was found lying lifeless inside a kitchen at his residence.
In another incident, police are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of attempted murder which occurred at a house in Pingo, Kadoma on July 3, 2024 at around 8.30 PM.
It is reported that Boyk Ngwenya (28) was found lying unconscious with swollen head and bleeding from the mouth after she was attacked by a yet to be identified suspect.
The victim was taken to Kadoma General Hospital for treatment. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
